PEACE, the weapon to see..

To see what?, You may ask. My response is – EVERYTHING. Most times, when we try to contextualize PEACE, we either refer to PEACE as the feeling or signal needed before we make certain decisions or we refer to PEACE as the calm, the certainty in a twist of uncertainty. And truly, there is nothing wrong with the mentioned contexts. Recently, I have been opened up to another manifest of PEACE, and it is a weapon to see…

“PEACE be with you”

These were the words of angel Gabriel to Mary in Luke 1 v 28, when he informed Mary that she would become pregnant and give birth to Christ. And as Mary was shaken with this life changing news, the angel kept encouraging her to believe with details of the characteristics of Christ and details of how the conception will take place. And then in Luke 1 v 38, Mary’s language changed. Mary said,

“Yes, I see it all now: I’m the Lord’s maid, ready to serve. Let it be with me, just as you say” MSG

Other versions like the KJV, use the word ‘Behold’ in place of ‘Yes, I see it all now’. About three weeks ago, when I read this story, my initial understanding was: PEACE is the foundation for belief to reign. But let’s dig further….

HOW IS PEACE A WEAPON?

A simple search on google defines weapon as a means of gaining an advantage or defending oneself in a contest or conflict. PEACE is an advantage of defence that every believer should have. Not just sometimes, but everyday. I believe that PEACE should be a lifestyle stance. The weapon of PEACE comes from the understanding that God is with you. Not head knowledge of God being with you, but a transformative, heart acknowledgement that God is with you. God is PEACE.

In the last two years, there were days and months I showed up in life, knowing (heart acknowledgement) that God is with me, and there were times when I let my guard down and focused on the waves, and in those moments, I created room for anxiety and fear and interestingly, I learnt how to cope with the feelings. It felt normal. But after seeing the light, that showing up in a manner that was not orchestrated by my maker is not his desire for me, I have refused to have it any other way, as I stay connected to him for strength.

I have learnt that PEACE is not just a state of wellbeing of calmness, but a lifestyle of operation on earth. I am learning to do life from a ‘being of PEACE’. And can I just remind us that it is not PEACE from the state of affairs on earth, but the PEACE that Christ gave us as he went to be with the father, in John 14 v 27.

HOW DOES PEACE MAKE YOU SEE?

First, what do we need to see? We need to see the mind of God in a matter and life in general. I used to think that fear is the enemy of PEACE, and that’s not incorrect, but I have found out that – distraction is another close relative of fear, which is an enemy of PEACE.

The reason I said that seeing the mind of God is the initial thing we need to know is because, once we know the mind of God in a matter, then we can spot the distractions. We are easily distracted or fearful when we are ignorant. But why do we need to see?

The function of seeing ignites the function of words. We speak from what we have come to know (see in our mind). In our reference verses, Mary’s heart received PEACE and she saw (came in alignment with the plans of God). And her utterances were evident of what she had seen. So what are you seeing? And what are you saying? Are your words from a place of fear, lies or PEACE?

There is a particular prayer that has become my everyday mantra I would love to share with you:

Let the PEACE of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this PEACE indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always].

Colossians 3 v 15 AMP

The PEACE of God should be our umpire in our everyday living. As we navigate life in a pandemic, I pray that we are being changed to do life and show up in life from the place of PEACE being the core of our output and what/who we say yes to. Amen.

Remember, PEACE is your inheritance and weapon of defence on earth!

What is PEACE to you?

Love and Light,

Princess

  1. Well said, Princess.
To answer your question, I would say peace is an act of trust. Psalms 4:8 says “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety”. This agrees with your statement, “The weapon of PEACE comes from the understanding that God is with you”

P.S: Happy to read your article again.
