Is There a Mix of Sorrow in God’s Blessing?

Hello!!!! *shines teeth*

Can you tell I am excited?*shines teeth again* I am very excited, but we shall talk about that later on in this post.

The blessing of the Lord brings wealth. Trouble doesn’t come with it. Proverbs 10 v 22 NIRV

Those were the words that kept popping up in my head weeks ago, more precisely, in the KJV: The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow with it. I looked up different versions of this passage and fell in love with the New International Reader’s Version.

You know it is very easy to read the Word everyday, and become too familiar with it. There’s a good familiarity- being armored with the Word and constantly feeding on it. Now, that’s great! But there’s the bad familiarity- where the Word is read with no caution or anticipation of transformation because there’s a cloud of ‘I have read/seen it all’ preventing a hunger for a new revelation. WHEN I GOT THIS WRONG: Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

Yes, you are right!

We are starting a new segment on the blog today. I am certain this will be one segment that will help us appreciate how far we have come in our relationship with Christ, more like, an evaluation of our journey with the Holy Spirit, as He gives us understanding of the Word of God.

Also, this segment is open to all- Precious Thoughts’ readers can send in their ‘When I got this wrong’ stories to preciousthoughts2013@gmail.com. The aim of this segment is to help give accurate Godly understanding to certain biblical values and truth that we practice. It is not just okay to say ‘Don’t steal’; can we explain to a non-believer why we understand that stealing is a sin? Can we carry out the will of God knowing His mind or do we just do it nevertheless because it is in the bible?

This segment is aimed at propelling us to take the next step- understand the mind of God. If we cannot understand God, we cannot accurately represent Him and draw men to Him. I pray for continuous flow of insight from Christ, upon everyone that will be a part of this- both the readers and contributors. Amen.

Starting off today’s premiere of the new segment is when I got the meaning of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit wrong and the devil had a field day, as usual. I hope you laugh [maybe] and learn as you read this. Continue reading

The Perturbing Question: Who is Dinah?

Finally!; she screamed with excitement.

You would think she had just won a jackpot or had been offered a trip to her dream country, with the way she screamed, “Finally”.

It was the Christmas season. As expected, the movies that were on TV were either talking of how Santa was coming to town or how everyone needs to find love this season. Well, most of the movies.

But she was excited because there was a biblical movie on at that moment. Not Passion of the Christ or The Nativity Story. This time, it was the story of Jacob. Still reeling with excitement, she did not get carried away with the story though. There had been some additions and subtractions. She had to ask herself; “Did that really happen in the Bible?”.

She did not dwell so much on that question as she was well consumed with the fact that something different was on. But then, she did not see the next question that was going to follow with the next scene playing.

The next scene was about how Dinah had gone to Hamor’s and had been raped by Shechem, Hamor’s son. She only wished the actors had displayed a rape taking place instead of consensual sex between Shechem and Dinah. But that was not what made her take that popular examination writing position, that no one wishes to be caught displaying in an examination hall. The one where a finger is placed on the chin and all of a sudden the ceiling seems to have all the answers you need.

At that moment, all she needed to know was; “Who is Dinah?” Continue reading
