Is There a Mix of Sorrow in God’s Blessing?

Hello!!!! *shines teeth*

Can you tell I am excited?*shines teeth again* I am very excited, but we shall talk about that later on in this post.

The blessing of the Lord brings wealth. Trouble doesn’t come with it. Proverbs 10 v 22 NIRV

Those were the words that kept popping up in my head weeks ago, more precisely, in the KJV: The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow with it. I looked up different versions of this passage and fell in love with the New International Reader’s Version.

You know it is very easy to read the Word everyday, and become too familiar with it. There’s a good familiarity- being armored with the Word and constantly feeding on it. Now, that’s great! But there’s the bad familiarity- where the Word is read with no caution or anticipation of transformation because there’s a cloud of ‘I have read/seen it all’ preventing a hunger for a new revelation. Full [Fool] Already?

I woke up three mornings ago, and the first thought that popped up in my head was: I definitely did not prepare for this. In those split seconds of that thought, I was thinking of how it happened that the weather changed all of a sudden. Yes! It is colder now, but I am still struggling to get a full grasp of how the sun has suddenly taken the function of lighting rather than heat. No exaggerations! True fact.

While I had this thought, that morning, I have had this post budding within me for the past one week, but I have been so exhausted. A lot just seems to be happening, and time is not at a stand still either, so I have decided to do better with my blogging; manage my time rightly and take on less responsibilities.

Oh! And did I miss out this information: My birthday is this week, Wednesday, 7th October, precisely. I am so excited. I do not know why. I am just excited and thankful to God for growth. I am entering into a new year where I am just marveled at how God’s realness has changed my life, that I am just not worried about a thing. I am just full of gratitude. Please pray for me, I am very expectant for this new year, not just expectant for my desires, but expectant in doing purpose and being a vessel for His glory.

Okay, let’s delve into the post of the day… Continue reading

WHAT SHE [THEY] SAID: Chastity for Men…

Hello Fam!

My unplanned absence [Forgive this girl, please *puppy face*] from the blog is over; and we are having a book review as I stated in the last blog post.

But before we get into the book, I want to pen down a few words about the ‘primary’ author of this book, Frances Okoro.

I cannot vividly remember how our paths crossed, what I do remember was the fact that I was just interested in another lady, who studied law and loves Jesus, and is not ashamed to let the world know. I dropped my 2 cents on her blog, and the rest…. [Frances will have to tell us]

Frances Okoro is a lover of Christ who is bestowed with a transforming gift of transparency, and she is not afraid to declare that the liberating and transforming power of God is real; and she is a living proof. Her gift of transparency, I call transforming; because you read her words of the works of Christ in her, and you are able to come to the realization that she has an intimacy with God. Apart from being a lady of inspiration, she is a jovial and fun-loving person, who loves travelling, adventure and never finds a reason to hide that smile. She is a passionate adherent of finding and fulfilling purpose, love through the eyes of God, purposeful relationships and being chaste. So it is no surprise that she worked hard, with the grace of God, to make this e-book available for the world to read, and be transformed. Continue reading

WHEN I GOT THIS WRONG: Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

Yes, you are right!

We are starting a new segment on the blog today. I am certain this will be one segment that will help us appreciate how far we have come in our relationship with Christ, more like, an evaluation of our journey with the Holy Spirit, as He gives us understanding of the Word of God.

Also, this segment is open to all- Precious Thoughts’ readers can send in their ‘When I got this wrong’ stories to preciousthoughts2013@gmail.com. The aim of this segment is to help give accurate Godly understanding to certain biblical values and truth that we practice. It is not just okay to say ‘Don’t steal’; can we explain to a non-believer why we understand that stealing is a sin? Can we carry out the will of God knowing His mind or do we just do it nevertheless because it is in the bible?

This segment is aimed at propelling us to take the next step- understand the mind of God. If we cannot understand God, we cannot accurately represent Him and draw men to Him. I pray for continuous flow of insight from Christ, upon everyone that will be a part of this- both the readers and contributors. Amen.

Starting off today’s premiere of the new segment is when I got the meaning of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit wrong and the devil had a field day, as usual. I hope you laugh [maybe] and learn as you read this. Continue reading

After You’ve Prayed, What Next?

Did you say faith? Or answers to your prayers? Thanksgiving? Continuous prayer? Incorrect! [for today’s post] Find the correct answer below…..

Last Saturday, I went to study in the library not too far from my home, it had just started snowing [little icy rain] so I presumed it was not going to gat any worse. I did not even check the weather forecast [I have just given up on checking weather forecast these days, I just make sure I am wearing very warm clothes and the proper boots]. As I sat in the library, I looked out the window and behold, the snow was quite heavy; it was not drops anymore. This time there were large chunks. I thought to myself that leaving the library now would make no sense, so I decided to pray:

“Lord, please let the snow stop when it’s time for me to go home. But if you won’t stop it [won’t because I know you can], please make a way for me to get home safely and swiftly. Amen!” Continue reading

The Perturbing Question: Who is Dinah?

study 1 Source- Google!

Finally!; she screamed with excitement.

You would think she had just won a jackpot or had been offered a trip to her dream country, with the way she screamed, “Finally”.

It was the Christmas season. As expected, the movies that were on TV were either talking of how Santa was coming to town or how everyone needs to find love this season. Well, most of the movies.

But she was excited because there was a biblical movie on at that moment. Not Passion of the Christ or The Nativity Story. This time, it was the story of Jacob. Still reeling with excitement, she did not get carried away with the story though. There had been some additions and subtractions. She had to ask herself; “Did that really happen in the Bible?”.

She did not dwell so much on that question as she was well consumed with the fact that something different was on. But then, she did not see the next question that was going to follow with the next scene playing.

The next scene was about how Dinah had gone to Hamor’s and had been raped by Shechem, Hamor’s son. She only wished the actors had displayed a rape taking place instead of consensual sex between Shechem and Dinah. But that was not what made her take that popular examination writing position, that no one wishes to be caught displaying in an examination hall. The one where a finger is placed on the chin and all of a sudden the ceiling seems to have all the answers you need.

At that moment, all she needed to know was; “Who is Dinah?” Continue reading
