Did you say faith? Or answers to your prayers? Thanksgiving? Continuous prayer? Incorrect! [for today’s post] Find the correct answer below…..

Last Saturday, I went to study in the library not too far from my home, it had just started snowing [little icy rain] so I presumed it was not going to gat any worse. I did not even check the weather forecast [I have just given up on checking weather forecast these days, I just make sure I am wearing very warm clothes and the proper boots]. As I sat in the library, I looked out the window and behold, the snow was quite heavy; it was not drops anymore. This time there were large chunks. I thought to myself that leaving the library now would make no sense, so I decided to pray:

“Lord, please let the snow stop when it’s time for me to go home. But if you won’t stop it [won’t because I know you can], please make a way for me to get home safely and swiftly. Amen!” Continue reading

Career Talk: Foundation Matter

Have you ever studied the work of a Mason or Bricklayer? Personally, I have not studiously taken note of their work, but I can say that whenever I see where a house is being built, there are two things I have noticed.

When the foundation of the house is being put together, it is not done in a day. [Disclaimer: I took note of this, back home in Nigeria, I have no idea how it works anywhere else]. I know the foundation building takes a longer time. Also, there are a lot of bricks and concretes that are used for the foundation building. You cannot expect to just make use of ten bags of cement for the building of a mansion, and the bigger the building that is envisioned, the more materials used for the foundation.

It is not a nouveau point knowing that the foundation of a thing really matters. Personally, I believe the foundation of a thing is very influential in the existence of a thing/experience. This is applicable in every sphere of a person’s life- physically, spiritually, emotionally, socially etc.

But today’s post will be focusing more on career and ambition wise. Continue reading

Still Empty Words?

Apart from seeing words as a gift, music definitely takes the second position after words. Like, can you imagine a world with no music?

This world would have been so dull. There’s so much life in music. That should not be a surprise as, one of the primary components of music are words.

James 3: 5 MSG says:

A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything- or destroy it!

Need I reiterate that the above scripture is definitely the truth. We should definitely take the words we speak and muse over, very seriously.

Talking about musing, do you muse over the lyrics of songs? Just before you answer in the comment section,*hint* I will answer. I can muse over things all day if I had my way. I do not joke with the lyrics of music. Once, I get the tug in my heart and understanding of a song and it does not go well with my spirit, I do away with such musics.

I remember the day I properly listened to John Legend’s All of Me, the first thing I said to my friend was; ‘this will make such a beautiful worship song’. And that thought has not changed till this day, the lyrics of that song is just amazing. Continue reading

The Perturbing Question: Who is Dinah?

Finally!; she screamed with excitement.

You would think she had just won a jackpot or had been offered a trip to her dream country, with the way she screamed, “Finally”.

It was the Christmas season. As expected, the movies that were on TV were either talking of how Santa was coming to town or how everyone needs to find love this season. Well, most of the movies.

But she was excited because there was a biblical movie on at that moment. Not Passion of the Christ or The Nativity Story. This time, it was the story of Jacob. Still reeling with excitement, she did not get carried away with the story though. There had been some additions and subtractions. She had to ask herself; “Did that really happen in the Bible?”.

She did not dwell so much on that question as she was well consumed with the fact that something different was on. But then, she did not see the next question that was going to follow with the next scene playing.

The next scene was about how Dinah had gone to Hamor’s and had been raped by Shechem, Hamor’s son. She only wished the actors had displayed a rape taking place instead of consensual sex between Shechem and Dinah. But that was not what made her take that popular examination writing position, that no one wishes to be caught displaying in an examination hall. The one where a finger is placed on the chin and all of a sudden the ceiling seems to have all the answers you need.

At that moment, all she needed to know was; “Who is Dinah?” Continue reading

Help! I cannot fast…

Take it from me, I know that struggle. And it is very real.

What comes to mind, when you hear the call to fast? For how long? What kind of fast? When is it starting? And the questions and thoughts never end.

For the past four to five years, I attended RCCG [Redeemed Christian Church of God]; and fasting is very known to every member of the church. I recall vividly that the month of February is the month of fast, even last year a 100-days fast was declared. I will be real with you. I could not stomach 100 days fast. I got involved for the first two weeks and I said to myself; ‘don’t deceive yourself, because you cannot deceive God’. I wanted to fast but my flesh was not willing and I just let it be. After all, not fasting won’t change God’s love for me. Not false! But there is a higher calling as a child of God.

During the last quarter of 2014, I decided to deal with the flesh with the help of the Holy Spirit in this area; with the intention of waxing stronger this year. The Lord has been laying this on my heart to share, considering how He has helped me. Continue reading
