Hello Amazing People!

Happy New Month to you! Wow! It’s the tenth month already. October is a very special month. In just a few sentences, let me tell you why this month is different…..It is my birth month. And I’m a Nigerian, we celebrate our independence in this month as well. 1st day precisely. Happy Independence my Nigerian Readers….Yeah! For these reasons alone, October is special. It is my prayer that in this new month the Lord will cause everything that has defied His existence in our lives, to align to His purpose and bring glory to His name. In Jesus name. Amen.

So I just had a thought, that it has been a long time I made a ‘random thought post’ since the last one.

Side thought: So I was just thinking maybe at the beginning of every month, I should do a ‘random thought’ post, recapping the lessons of the previous month. So I will work on this. Tell me what you think about this as well…

So let’s dig in to the wisdom nuggets….. Continue reading

Dearest Precious Thinkers!

Let me start this post by saying: May God forgive us for every time we have procrastinated in working on an idea that has been inspired by the Holy Spirit. Amen. There were times when I got into a state of uneasiness when I had a post brewing in my mind and I had not put it up and then I get to see something similar somewhere else. But I am grateful that in the journey of blogging I’ve come to realise that This thing I do is no competition. All thanks to the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is one. Ephesians 4:6. So when that feeling of uneasiness tries to raise its ugly head, I tell it to flee, This is just a confirmation! Also, most times, when I have not put the post up, there are other experiences of affirmation that take place, that is indeed necessary in the construction of such post. So in other words, whichever way it goes, it works together for good. But I have to stress that,  this isn’t an allowance for sheer laziness, disobedience and procrastination.

So why such an introduction?

Today’s post has been a long one coming, but a lot of things got in the way that humanly thinking I felt I should have put this post up before now, but the past few days have made me realise that this timing is perfect. You see nothing that happens to us takes God by surprise….*pinches self* …*don’t digress Chinomnso, stick to today’s post*

GUEST EXCLUSIVE: In Full..

I don’t know when he approached my counter; I must have had my eyes elsewhere. The mall is quite big, you see, and we were warned to look around us. For that pick pocket that feels today is his lucky day. Or that little child that moves away from his minder, unobtrusively, and tries to pick a ‘sweet’ or chocolate bar when we were not looking. Or both could be happening at the same time- my brother, is that not what our two eyes are for? To look at different directions at the same time. Okay, it is impossible, but I used to convince myself many, many years ago, that it was possible. I was 5 or 6 then you see.

So I don’t know when he approached my counter. But his still small, weak voice drew me from my thoughts. ‘Can I pay for these items’, he said, rather weakly. I looked up; he could not be more than 70, I said to myself. His starched brown suit glistered under the bright mall lights. He was not as tall as myself, I noticed. Perhaps he was taller back then when he was younger, before the slight bend he had on his back developed. His hands, hairy and small, grabbed the groceries, which he now placed on my counter. He smiled at me. It was then I noticed the tears in his eyes, slowly climbing down his pale face. It appeared that he had been crying- at least it seemed to me. Continue reading

Bliss in saying NO!

‘Awwwww! Saying no won’t be fair’

Do you know how they will see me if I say no?’

They will see me as one loser, who has no guts! They won’t talk to me again….. I won’t be recommended for big bucks jobs…… I will be seen as Ms GoodyTwo-Shoes, and you know what that means- I won’t be able to hang around them….If I say no, it will be recorded that I’m a rude person, and I don’t want such tainted record!………

Conversations/scenarios like these are everyday occurrences. The struggle to please people. Interestingly this popular passage has been misunderstood: Love your neighbour as yourself. Okay! I guess that part wasn’t read properly. It says ‘as yourself’ not Love yourself as your neighbour. I know there is a thin line between selfishness and self-love, but doing something at the HUGE expense of yourself to the joy of another, is taking it to another level. [Emphasis on the ‘HUGE’, as there are circumstances where things are done for another at the doer’s expense-friendship, love relationships]. Continue reading

Where there is no law…..

Let’s do a ‘Throwback’ on Precious Thoughts!!

Princessa's avatarPrecious Thoughts!

I’ve this thinking that it is possible to have a world where people don’t rely on the law to do the right thing, i.e people do things the right way because it is the right thing to do…[I can hear my people saying: ‘Nah!! that ain’t possible’, ‘there are people who do the wrong things because it’s in their nature’, ‘For your mind’]….Oh well…..I watched a movie sometime ago, it’s titled ‘the purge’ [very good movie, I recommend you watch it] the movie envisioned a time in America where ‘they’ will have 12 hours when all and everything is legal, that is, nothing was a crime, do as you wish, no police, ambulance and all. It was quite shocking and sad to see the turnout of events with such opportunity. And it got me thinking, what will I do if nothing was a crime? what will my neighbours/friends/classmates/lecturers/pastors/siblings/aunts/uncles/cousins/passersby…[the list is…

Let’s talk: The Blame Game!?!

Source- Google!

Source- Google!

The easiest statement anyone will like to make when there’s an issue is ‘It’s not my fault, it’s yours’. So long as there’s another party that can be drawn into whatever mess that has taken place, why not lay the blame on them. Easy as A, B, C, right?

Well, if you ask me, maturity comes with taking responsibility. You ask ‘What of situations where, it is outrightly known to the other party that it is not my fault, but he/she refuses to take responsibilty?’  Hmmm, tough right? Well! I will say share the blame for peace to reign. Lol. [my personal take, I’m sure there are other contrary views] However, I guess different situations require different responses.

But you see, today’s post title is a recurrent event that has been in existence before I was born and till this day.
